What Is an APS Maid?

An APS maid is a domestic helper brought to Singapore by a participating maid agency before an employer has hired her. Because she is already here, eligible families can interview her face to face and hire her without waiting for overseas travel.

MOM’s Advance Placement Scheme is intended to help families with caregiving needs find a suitable helper sooner. An APS candidate may be new to Singapore, so ask about her actual work experience and training during the interview.

Who Can Hire an APS Maid?

To qualify for APS, you need to be eligible for the MDW Concessionary Levy scheme. An urgent need for help or a departing helper does not, by itself, make a household eligible.

Your household includes What to check
A young child A Singapore Citizen child under 16.
An older person A Singapore Citizen aged 67 or above, or a Permanent Resident aged 67 or above who meets MOM’s additional family and household conditions.
These are common qualifying situations. Address, family relationship and household registration rules can affect eligibility. Tell Homekeeper who needs care and where they live so we can help you check the relevant criteria.

What Does an APS Maid Cost?

The concessionary levy is S$60 per month when the qualifying conditions are met. You will also need to budget for the helper’s salary, agency fees, insurance and other applicable hiring costs.

APS agency fees may differ from overseas hiring because the agency brings the helper to Singapore before matching her with a family. Our consultants can provide an itemised quotation before you decide.
