According to the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore, you should pay your maid a monthly salary of no less than the amount you declared. The salary period must not be over a month and payments should be made no later than seven days after the last day of the salary period. MOM encourages employers to pay their workers through their bank accounts – the accounts must not be a joint account with the employer. For payments done in cash, a record of the salary payments must be kept and both employers and workers must sign them. Employers are also prohibited from keeping maids’ salaries, bank cards, or bank books even if they requested such an arrangement themselves.
